MotoGP Americas GP: Vinales tops opening practice from Martin, Acosta
Following a three-week break, MotoGP resumed at Circuit of the Americas after the cancellation of the Argentina round due to insufficient government funding. This event marks the first race since the acquisition of Dorna Sports by US media firm Liberty in a significant €4.2 billion deal. Despite partial resurfacing, lap times were slower than the record, with Maverick Vinales leading FP1 on fresh Michelin rubber. Vinales’ fastest time narrowly edged out championship leader Jorge Martin, while rookie Pedro Acosta impressed in third place. Notably, Marc Marquez finished eighth, with competitors gradually adjusting to the partially resurfaced track throughout the session.
